“Don’t even think about using my music you fascists”: Jack White threatens to sue Donald Trump’s campaign after Seven Nation Army used on social media clip

Election season is around the corner and with it comes a familiar controversy: the unauthorised use of music by political campaigns. White Stripes frontman Jack White is the latest in a string of angry artists who’ve threatened to sue the Donald Trump campaign for using his music without permission.

In a now-deleted post on Twitter/ X, Trump’s Deputy Director of Communications Margo Martin shared a video of the Republican nominee walking to his plane, to the soundtrack of The White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army.
Sharing a screen recording of the video on his Instagram account, White did not mince words, threatening to sue and warning, “Don’t even think about using my music, you fascists.”
“Lawsuit coming from my lawyers about this (to add to your five thousand others). Have a great day at work today Margo Martin,” he wrote.
The singer also voiced his outage at Trump’s recent Arlington National Cemetery photo op, where members of his campaign allegedly “verbally abused and pushed” a staff who tried to stop them from filming and photographing during a wreath-laying ceremony.
“You should lose every military family’s vote immediately from that if anything makes sense anymore,” he slammed.

White joins a growing list of musicians speaking out against the use of their music in the former president’s campaign. Just hours before White’s statement, Universal Music issued a legal notice denouncing the unauthorised use of ABBA songs to promote Trump’s candidacy.
Beyoncé has also reportedly sent the Trump campaign a cease-and-desist for its unauthorised use of her song Freedom in a social media video. DJ Snake, meanwhile, said that he doesn’t want his music associated with politics at all.
