“Custom colours that are sure to get attention”: These vibrant Gibson ES-335s are now reduced at Thomann

If you’re looking to add a Gibson ES-335 to your collection, these Custom Color models are currently reduced at Thomann, mixing classic features with modern aesthetics.
Four models are currently available at a lower price on site including Ocean Blue, Watermelon, and Spearmint, as well as the slightly more pricey Figured Blood Moon Burst. Gibson introduced the addition of the ES-335 to its Custom Color series back in January for NAMM, following on from its Les Paul Standard and SG models getting colourful makeovers back in 2023. It describes the range as “custom colours that are sure to get attention”.

The ES-335’s body is crafted with layered maple/poplar/maple for the top, back, and sides, and is coupled with a solid maple centerblock for controlling unwanted feedback. It also has a mahogany neck with a Rounded C profile, capped with a rosewood fretboard with a 12” radius, and 22 medium jumbo frets.
Onboard is also a Graph Tech nut and Vintage Deluxe tuners with Keystone buttons, plus a nickel-plated ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and aluminium Stop Bar tailpiece. Electronics are Gibson’s Calibrated T-Type humbucker pickups in the lead (bridge) and rhythm (neck) positions. A Gibson hardshell case is also included.
In other news, a team of guitar experts were recently brought together by guitarist and YouTuber Robert Baker to take apart a counterfeit Les Paul to reveal just what sets it apart from the real deal – and they even cut directly through the guitar to really get an idea of just how different it was from an authentic model.
For the mini investigation, Baker was joined by blues boss Joe Bonamassa, session guitarist Tom Bukovac, and relic and ageing specialist Phil Jones. Master Artisan (and namesake of the Murphy Lab) Tom Murphy was also on hand, plus Joe Glaser and Nick Drushel of Glaser Instruments.
