Corey Taylor reveals his solo album has been recorded

Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor has revealed that recording for his debut solo album has concluded. The sessions took place in secrecy over two and a half weeks, amid COVID-19 lockdowns.
Taylor gave the details on his upcoming album while speaking with Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale on an episode of her YouTube video series, We Are Hear. When asked what he had been doing with his time in lockdown, the Slipknot frontman said: “I secretly recorded my first solo album. I did with the band I’ve been using for my solo shows for years and just a bunch of people that I’ve been working with forever.”
“So it’s Jason [Christopher], Dustin [Schoenhofer] on drums, Zach Throne, who I’ve been jamming with for a long time, and Tooch [Christian Martucci].”
He revealed that the album’s live sessions – which spanned a mere two and a half weeks – had yielded a total of 25 songs, adding that the material itself had been previously written, but “didn’t really fit” with either Slipknot nor Stone Sour.
“All the songs are things that I’ve written over the years but they didn’t really fit with either band. So it’s stuff that I’ve just kind of been sitting on. And I realised – I just kind of turned around and I was just, like, ‘Geez, I’ve got all these songs.’”
He also praised his album collaborators, attributing the album’s diverse sound to their common music interests. “Picking those guys was the perfect combo,” he said, “[because] we all just love the same kinds of music – the same kinds of rock, the same kinds of punk, the same kinds of metal, the same kinds of everything – and we all were able to incorporate those influences into everything.”
