Charvel unveils stripped-back sassafras Pro-Mod San Dimas style 1 range
Charvel, along with EVH, Jackson and Gretsch, has unveiled its new lineup for 2021. among the many new models announced, there’s a new elegant take on the Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1, finished in natural open-pore black, as well as a new signature model for Angel Vivaldi and a set of new entries into the MJ Series.
Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 Sassafras
All of the San Dimas Style 1 Sassafras models feature a graphite-reinforced bolt-on maple neck, a 12-16-inch compound radius fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets, a heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel, Seymour Duncan pickups in either HSH or HH arrangement and either a Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking tremolo or a Charvel HT6 string-through-body hardtail bridge.
The model is available in a left-handed HH arrangement with a Floyd Rose, or a right-handed HSS arrangement with either a Charvel HT6 string-through-body hardtail bridge or Floyd Rose. The hardtail model lists for $999.99 / £959 / €1,069 while both Tremolo models list for $1,099.99 /£959 / €1,069. All three are available from March 2021.
Angel Vivaldi Signature Pro-Mod DK24-6 Nova
Image: CharvelAngel Vivaldi’s new Signature Pro-Mod DK24-6 Nova is his first six-string collaboration with Charvel. It comes finished in Lucerne Aqua Firemist with a colour-matched reversed Stratocaster headstock. A caramelized maple fingerboard tops a bolt-on maple neck and sports cascading dot inlays and 24 frets. The neck profile is to Angel Vivaldi’s own spec, and the fretboard has a 12-16-inch radius for easy shredding all the way up the neck.
In terms of electronics, there’s a Dimarzio The Tone Zone DP155 humbucker in the bridge and a DiMarzio Air Norton humbucker in the neck. The bridge is a Gotoh custom 510 tremolo bridge. Available April 2021, it lists for $1,599.99 / £1,289 / €1,429 MSRP.
