Boss teases new Waza Craft compact pedal

Boss has taken to social media to tease the release of a new Waza Craft compact pedal unit. The vague nature of the tease could hint at quite the major release.
The post, coming from Boss’ European Instagram page, reads simply: “New BOSS Waza Craft Compact Pedal. Coming Soon.”
The accompanying photo gives no clues other than the pedal will be in Boss’ standard compact form factor. The face for the pedal’s controls remains undrilled, so we can’t even guess what it could be based on knob arrangement alone.

For those not in the loop, Waza Craft is Boss’ line of classic compact stompboxes that have been reworked into a new (but entirely faithful) premium version. So far, Boss has issued Waza Craft versions of eight pedals: the BD-2 Blues Driver, The SD-1 Super Overdrive, The DM-2 Delay, the CE-2 Chorus, the VB-2 Vibrato, the TU-3 Chromatic Tuner, the MT-2 Metal Zone and the DC-2 Dimension C.
Speculation has been rife as to what the next pedal to be Waza-ified will be. Popular but discontinued vintage Boss pedals can fetch a high price on the used market, and so pedal fans are keen for a new version of their dream pedal that, despite being included in the more premium Waza line, will be more affordable than shelling out for a vintage unit.
Per the comments section of Boss’ tease, popular choices are the Swedish-death-metal-in-a-box of the HM-2, the scooped doom-ready octave fuzz of the FZ-2, the classic octaver the OC-2 or the RE-20 space echo. Although, the latter would have to be scaled down to fit in a compact enclosure.
