Bon Jovi helps talk distressed woman down from bridge

Jon Bon Jovi has been praised for dissuading a member of the public from jumping off of a bridge in Nashville.
According to The Tennessean, the exchange took place on Tuesday while Jon Bon Jovi and his team were filming a music video for the rockstar’s latest single, The People’s House. However, the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge had not been closed off from the public. Mid-shoot, the team noticed a woman in blue had climbed over the railings.

In surveillance footage shared by the Metro Nashville Police Department, you can see the moment Bon Jovi and a member of his team approach the woman. The Tennessean reports that the team member is Bon Jovi’s production assistant.
While nothing can be heard, you can see the production assistant breaks the ice, comforting the woman, before Bon Jovi begins to offer his own words of support.
After a brief chat, the woman turns round and hugs the production assistant. Before long, Bon Jovi and his assistant are helping the woman back over the railings. When her feet are firmly on solid ground, the woman hugs Bon Jovi in a tight embrace.

The Metro Nashville Police Department have spoken highly of Bon Jovi and his team’s actions. “A shout out to Jon Bon Jovi & his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler Ped Bridge Tue night,” they wrote. “Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety.”
“It takes all of us to help keep each other safe,” Chief John Drake adds.
While the severity of the situation was daunting, ABC News notes that Bon Jovi has had extensive training on how to handle sensitive situations. The music legend and his wife are founders of the JBJ Soul Foundation, a charity that supports the homeless and those suffering from hunger poverty. As a result, Bon Jovi has reportedly received lots of training to support those in a crisis.
While media outlets have reached out to Bon Jovi for further comments, The Tennessean report that the musician has declined to speak to the media out of respect.
