Archetype: Tim Henson X is Neural DSP’s “powerful evolution” of the Polyphia guitarist’s signature plugin
Polyphia‘s Tim Henson has expanded his work with Neural DSP on a new signature plugin, Archetype: Tim Henson X.
The “powerful evolution” of his plugin, which was originally released in 2022, promises significantly improved performance, expanded features, a redesigned user interface, and Quad Cortex compatibility via a future CorOS update.

Archetype: Tim Henson X includes his signature Multivoicer which has been reworked to be more intuitive. The Multivoicer, which lets users add four pitch-shifted voices to the signal to easily recreate Henson’s signature layered harmonies, sees a significant update.
In the original version, users need a DAW to input a MIDI track with chords for the Multivoicer to harmonise to. Routing this track into the Multivoicer and creating a separate instrument track as the output combines the Multivoicer’s harmonisation with your guitar that varies over time, rather than being fixed to a single chord.
Now, the Multivoicer interface is far simpler to use, making it easier to craft layered melodies. There are also two new scale options, Harmonic Minor and Melodic Minor, which expand the possibilities further.
The interface overall has been improved with updated visuals and easier navigation. The ability to click and drag to resize windows streamlines the creative process, for example. Neural DSP’s latest global features have been added too, including Transpose, Doubler, Live Tuner, and Metronome.
