Alex Lifeson’s Lerxst launches the Grace – a guitar to honour the 40th anniversary of Rush’s Grace Under Pressure
Back in January, Alex Lifeson’s company Lerxst partnered with Godin Guitars to create its very first guitar. The Limelight revived and gave a facelift to the Hentor Sportscaster that defined Lifeson’s sound in the ’80s. Now, to mark the 40th anniversary of Rush’s Grace Under Pressure, Lifeson is back with another Sportscaster reimagining.
Stick on Grace Under Pressure and you’ll hear Lifeson’s Hentor Sportscaster. The Superstrat was the guitarist’s secret weapon in the studio, and a favourite on the road, too. The Lerxst Grace recaptures the magic of Lifeson’s guitar, from its tone right down to its vibrant red finish.

Specs include a red body, mirrored pickguard and maple neck, as well as medium stainless steel frets and some more modern tweaks. The original pickups have been swapped out for a Mojotone Lerxst Humbucker and two Mojotone Lerxst single coils – with each pickup custom wound to Lifeson’s specifications. Additionally, players can also choose between the classic Floyd Rose tremolo system or a Vega Trem with 18:1 locking tuners.
“Working with Alex to craft and refine these signature instruments has been an amazing opportunity to push the boundaries of what we believe a modern, versatile instrument should be capable of,” Godin Guitars President Simon Godin says.
“Grace represents the latest evolution of our collaboration and – befitting the album that it is named after – is a testament to what can be achieved when brilliant creative minds come together in pursuit of musical excellence.”
“We were blown away by the positive feedback we got from the release of Limelight earlier this year and knew that we wanted to do another one,” Lifeson adds. “With Grace, we wanted to pay tribute to the 40th Anniversary of Grace Under Pressure by building off of my favourite guitar from that period.
“It’s a beautiful instrument that suits many different styles of playing. “The mirrored pickguard comes in handy for late night sessions when you need, um, to check, ah, your hair or something…”
The Lerxst Grace is available now for $3,999, with a limited run of just 200 models. If you grab a Grace through Lerxst’s Reverb Shop, you also have a chance of receiving a signed copy of Lifeson’s solo album Victor.
