“Absolutely gutted”: Jackson and Ernie Ball guitars among “tens of thousands of dollars” worth of gear stolen from Aussie band

Aussie jazz/funk band Hiatus Kaiyote are the latest victims of gear theft, after two guitars and a variety of other gear worth “tens of thousands of dollars” was stolen from their studio space in Preston, Melbourne.
Earlier this week, the band posted a full list of what was taken on their Instagram while asking for any information in the hopes of some gear being returned.

“We have been robbed. Please keep your eyes out, especially if you are in Melbourne and surrounding areas/states,” the band writes. “Contact us if you see anything. Absolutely gutted right now.”
The band know the serial numbers of the two guitars taken, which they list in the caption, too:

Ernie Ball Bongo 6 bass, blue with stickers. (serial number #F45515)
Jackson Randy Rhoads Flying V guitar, white (serial number ISJ2106072)

Other studio gear that was taken without known serial numbers includes an Allen & Heath GL2200 mixer, a 4000 G-Series SSL Stereo Bus Compressor, and two Warm Audio WA76 Discrete FET Compressors.
However, even in the face of this theft, the band still intends to move forward of their upcoming US tour.
“We will rebuild,” they write. “Having a bunch of our shit stolen will NOT stop us from bringing the heat to YOU, people of America! That’s right we are going back on tour through the USA, and no amount of thieving c*nts can stop us!”

Sadly, the theft of music gear remains a common problem. In December, Tom A Smith, a musician from Sunderland, saw fans raise $13,000 to replace his “beloved” guitar that was stolen on the way to a gig. Also in December, Baroness guitarist Gina Gleason had a Telecaster stolen by a concert goer during a show.
