$15k “urban myth” amplifier co-designed with Eagles’ Joe Walsh drops — with zero sound samples
Ever heard of an amplifier so legendary it’s been dubbed an “urban myth” in “pro guitar circles”? One so groundbreaking, it’s practically a religious experience for the select few who’ve had the privilege of playing it? No? Well, neither have we.
And yet, 20 years after its quiet inception (or so claims G-Craft Audio) the GC-1, co-designed by Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh, has finally made its way into the realm of the real. With a price tag starting at a jaw-dropping $14,999, it’s safe to say this amp will set you back a fair bit more than your average guitar rig.

Built by G-Craft Audio, this made-to-order tube amp is the result of a team effort between Walsh and master audio engineer Brian Thompson, who had one singular goal: “to create the best amplifier ever made, no matter the cost.”
But that’s where things get interesting, or should we say, mysterious – because while you can now place an order for the GC-1, you can’t actually hear it in action. Sure, G-Craft has shared details about the amp’s design and signal path, but a demo? Nope. There isn’t even an embedded sound sample.
What we do know, however, is this: The GC-1 features a fully analogue design, a three-band dynamic EQ and optical compression with individual threshold and gain controls, pure signal preservation with lossless voltage stepping, an “extremely low noise” pre-amplifier, and a custom high-impedance (70 Ohm) 15-inch speaker.
You get three KT88 tubes in parallel delivering 60W RMS of power. The amp even boasts NASA-grade glue for insulation, because of course regular glue isn’t going to cut it when you’re aiming for sonic nirvana.
“It’s an amp that defies the impossible,” says G-Craft Audio. “The few who have played it say it’s like a spiritual experience, but you’ll have to find out for yourself.”
