Gold rush: Gretsch unveils the dazzling Paisley Penguin and Honey Dipper Special limited-edition guitars

Gretsch has expanded its 2025 catalogue with two stunning limited-edition models in gold: the G6134TG Paisley Penguin and the G9202 Honey Dipper Special Round-Neck Brass Body Resonator Guitar.
An elegantly designed guitar suited for a wide range of musical styles, the G6134TG Limited Edition Paisley Penguin with String-Thru Bigsby is a luxurious reinterpretation of a Gretsch classic — and opulence is its middle name.

The Paisley Penguin features a chambered mahogany body topped with arched maple that is gloriously adorned with a gold edge burst finish over a gold paisley and sparkle top. Gold hardware throughout, including Grover Imperial locking tuners, matching gold pickguard, pickup bezels, and jeweled G-Arrow control knobs, makes the guitar an absolute head-turner.

Beneath its dazzling exterior, serious tonewood craftsmanship ensures the Penguin sounds as good as it looks. Its chambered construction “magnifies harmonic richness”, while a pair of TV Jones pickups (a TV Classic in the neck and a slightly hotter TV Classic Plus at the bridge) deliver everything from sparkling cleans to punchy growls.
Priced at $3,499.99, the guitar also features a 12” radius ebony fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and mother of pearl Neo Classic thumbnail inlays, an Adjusto-Matic bridge with a pinned ebony base, a String-Thru Bigsby B3GP tailpiece for enhanced sustain, individual volume controls for each pickup, along with a master volume, master tone, and a three-way selector switch. A G6238XL Gretsch deluxe hardshell case is also included with each purchase.
Meanwhile, players seeking something with a more rootsy character can turn their attention to the Gretsch G9202 Honey Dipper Special Round-Neck Brass Body Resonator.

Built on the foundation of the wildly popular G9201 Honey Dipper, this model pairs a bell brass body with a new weathered “Bell Bronze” finish, adding a vintage patina to its powerful voice. At the heart of the Honey Dipper Special is Gretsch’s Ampli-Sonic diaphragm, a hand-spun aluminum resonator cone made in Eastern Europe from nearly 99-percent pure aluminum.
Key specs include a mahogany neck with a comfortable Medium “V” profile, a 25” scale length, a bound padauk fingerboard, a hard maple biscuit bridge with ebony and maple saddle, and vintage touches like an aged pearloid headcap, aged white fingerboard binding and screened headstock graphic.
The G9202 Honey Dipper Special is available now for $749.99 through authorised Gretsch dealers.
