Carlos Santana hospitalised prior to show due to dehydration
Carlos Santana was hospitalised prior to a show in Texas yesterday (22 April) due to a medical incident.
Santana was due to play at San Antonio’s Majestic Theatre when he became unwell, and the gig was subsequently cancelled. It has since been determined that the guitarist had suffered from dehydration, according to his management. He has been recovering well, and his Oneness tour throughout the US is still set to continue. The missed San Antonio show will be rescheduled.

His manager Michael Vrionis says in a statement (via Guitar World): “Mr. Santana was at the venue (Majestic Theatre) preparing for tonight’s show when he experienced an event that was determined to be dehydration. Out of an abundance of caution and the health of Mr. Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action.”
Vrionis confirms that Santana is “doing well”, and (at the time of writing) his show tonight (23 April) at the Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land is still due to go ahead as planned. Santana experienced a similar medical problem back in 2022, when he collapsed mid-show during a set at Pine Knob Music Theatre, Michigan. It was reported the incident was due to heat exhaustion and dehydration.
Santana is due to continue playing shows throughout April for the Oneness tour, before heading to the New Orleans Jazz Festival in May, and the House Of Blues in Las Vegas to continue his residency – the original dates were postponed after he suffered a fall at home.
