“I wanna do it as if it’s brand new”: An extended and never-before-seen version of Eric Clapton’s legendary MTV Unplugged performance is coming to Paramount+ next week
MTV is set to release an extended and never-before-seen version of Eric Clapton’s iconic Unplugged live session next week.
Titled Eric Clapton Unplugged… Over 30 Years Later, the all-new 90-minute special will be available to stream globally on Paramount+ starting Wednesday, 12 February.

Clapton originally recorded his episode of MTV Unplugged in 1992 at Bray Studios in Windsor, England. He later released Unplugged, a live album of the session which sold over 26 million copies worldwide. The record would go on to become the best-selling live album of all time.
In this extended, remixed and remastered edition, audiences will be able to catch exclusive content of Clapton discussing the inspiration behind specific songs and performances with the crew just before he took the stage, seamlessly integrated with the performance footage.
During the intimate performance, Clapton reimagined his catalogue with first-time acoustic arrangements of hits including Layla, Tears in Heaven, and more.
He also paid homage to the blues music that influenced him, performing classics including Before You Accuse Me, originally recorded by Bo Diddley and Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out, originally recorded by Bessie Smith.

Eric Clapton Unplugged… Over 30 Years Later follows the release of Clapton’s new studio album Meanwhile, which features 6 never-before-heard tracks, previously released singles, and includes collaborations with Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, and more.
The 79-year-old is also due to head out on the road in the UK this May in support of the record. Clapton will be playing three headline shows at the historic Royal Albert Hall in London, and performing at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.
