Chapman Guitars announces restructuring, teases its first-ever amp
Chapman Guitars is in its final stages of restructuring. After moving to a new factory in Holland and taking on new shareholder, Musifacts founder Brian Van Zwietering, the company hopes to grow in the coming years – and will also be branching out into amps.
“Chapman Guitars has experienced incredible growth recently, including our move to distribution and a new factory,” founder Rob Chapman writes in an Instagram post. “To realise our exciting expansion plans, we’ve brought on board new experience and expertise.”

“Brian not only brings valuable experience but is also deeply passionate about growing Chapman and Snake Oil in line with our vision,” he continues. “He’s a great guy, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
The Musifacts founder also features on the post, posing next to Chapman with a matching grin. “I was always excited about Chapman Guitar’s collaborative approach and its connection to the music community,” Zwietering says. “I’m proud to be part of their journey and to help the brand grow while staying true to what makes Chapman special.”

Chapman ends on an exciting reminder of Chapman Guitar’s debut amp. “Stay tuned as we expand our range, introduce innovative products and celebrate this exciting era – starting with our first-ever Chapman Amplifier, the Cloud Hammer, coming soon!”
While a release date is yet to be confirmed, Chapman has shown the 40-watt tube amp in action. “It has been such a long time coming,” he says in a YouTube preview of the new amp. “I’ve wanted to make a Chapman amp for years and years and years!”
The Cloud Hammer is made up of four EL34s in the power amp, while two pairs of 12AT7s and 12AX7s work in the preamp. The amp also has two channels, with a user-configurable boost circuit. There’s also the option to tweak compression or tonally brighten things up.
“I am not the biggest utiliser of the clean tone,” Chapman explains. “But it is incredibly useful, for me, more as a pedal platform. I wanted the clean side to have a really, really warm, clean, super-high headroom, buttery clean.”
The amp is also finished off with a touch of tweed, giving it a distinctively vintage feel.
As Chapman explains, the amp is expected to cost around £3,000. It’s a pretty penny, but the amp is set to be hand-wired, so you’re paying for the precise craftsmanship.
Chapman Guitars will be at NAMM at the end of month, set up at booth 5516.
