NAMM 2025: Lite Jam’s light-up fretboard could make learning guitar easier than ever
NAMM 2025: Many of the biggest NAMM 2025 announcements are yet to come (the show doesn’t commence until 21 January, after all). But we’re already seeing some intriguing product launches trickle in, like the Lite Jam, an electric guitar with a light-up fretboard which shows guitarists exactly were to place their fingers when practicing chords and scales.
Lite Jam’s 150 full-spectrum LED lights aim to make guitar accessible and easy for newcomers. Rather than having to consult daunting diagrams or tutorials, the light-up fretboard shows players exactly how to play each new chord. The LED lights are also nice and flush with the fretboard, so they don’t intrude on the playing experience.

The LED lights are rechargeable via a front-mounted USB-C port, with a full charge providing you around 4 hours of playing time.
Via the free Lite Jams App, players are able to link their app to the guitar via Bluetooth. From there, players can flick between three modes: Chord Mode, Scale Mode and Performance Mode.

Chord Mode allows players to learn new chords, with a different LED colour corresponding with each finger. Scale Mode requires you to pick your key and scale type, then red lights show root notes within the scale, all without having to look up from your fretboard.
While primarily geared towards new players, Scale Mode can be appreciated by experienced guitarists eager to experiment with their sound. Not to mention, it look pretty cool – it’s like a light show on the neck of your guitar. Performance Mode allows you to take full advantage of the LEDs too, as you can program your own light patterns.
Eager guitarists can try out the Lite Jam guitar at this year’s NAMM from January 23-25. The guitar will be in the Innovation Zone in Hall E, at stand number 1932.
NAMM 2025 will be held at Anaheim Convention Center, running from 21-25 January. You can register to attend at NAMM’s official website.
