“90% of these instruments are custom shop signature models from other artists spanning over three decades”: Stone Sour’s Josh Rand has launched a Reverb store – and we had no idea his collection was this impressive
Stone Sour’s Josh Rand has launched his own Reverb store, and is parting ways with 31 rare guitars and basses, spanning one-of-a-kind customs to bespoke vintage models.
Of the 26 guitars and five basses up for grabs, Rand’s Reverb shop is packed with limited-edition signature models. There’s a particularly Kiss-centric selection, too, including Ace Frehley’s 1997 Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul – of which there were only 300 made – to a signed 1996 Gene Simmons ‘Punisher’ bass. There’s even a ‘90s Ibanez PS-10 signed by Paul Stanley.

Elsewhere, Rand’s Reverb shop also has a 2013 Fender Sting Artist Series Precision Bass signed by Sting himself. There’s also a 2017 Ibanez Apex-20 signed by James “Munky” Shaffer from Korn, and a Fender Custom Yngwie Malmsteen Duck signed by Malmsteen.

Some Beatles love is also on show, with Rand selling his Gibson Museum 70th Anniversary John Lennon Les Paul Jr.
There’s also an Ibanez Prestige 12-string guitar on sale that Rand has used during Stone Sour recordings. “It was actually built during the LA custom shop for me to use during the recording of 2017’s Hydrograd,” he explains.
A Slayer-tinged 2010 ESP Jeff Hanneman Signature Series is also on sale. “What makes this one specifically unique is it has a Floyd Rose instead of the Kahler,” Rand says. “It also has the Slayer eagle logo instead of the H Hanneman logo.”
He’s also parting way with one of Paul Gilbert’s guitars, a 1963 Ibanez PGM. “As a guitar collector, when you get the opportunity to buy one of your heroes’ guitars, you just do it!” he explains. “That’s the case with this guitar. When the opportunity arose to buy one of Paul Gilbert’s guitars used to record a Racer X project, I just couldn’t turn it down. After being on display at my house, I’ve decided it’s time for someone else to enjoy it.”
Another Ibanez guitar comes in the form of a 2008 JSBDG ‘Black Dog.’ Limited to just 88 guitars, the model was designed by Ibanez’s Sugi Custom Shop.
An EVH 78’ Eruption is another uber-limited guitar available. One of just 40 in existence, it comes with a ’78 chain strap, an oil can and two packs of ’70s-era Fender Super Bullets strings. There’s even some Van Halen ‘70s tortoiseshell picks thrown in for good measure.
