We gave it 10/10 and called it the best new metal amp on the market – and it’s $600 off!
This is one of the coolest deals we’ve seen across all of Cyber Week, with a massive saving on what’s maybe the best metal amp we’ve ever reviewed!

Victory’s VX The Kraken is currently just $899 at Sweetwater – which is an amazing deal, given that it’s normally $1,499!
When we reviewed the amplifier all the way back in February of this year, we gave it a 10/10 – so this is no random amplifier. It’s a massive update on the original, with a load of tonal tweaks, including a brand-new clean channel and a presence control.
But at its heart, it’s still the same approach – mix together a Peavey 5150 and a JCM800, give them both a proggy, sludgy rework while still keeping a lot of clarity, and package it all in a reasonably-sized metal-clad head. There is a 100-watt version, but this 50-watter will be more than loud enough for 99% of situations, and comes with the added benefit of being a good bit easier to lift.
This is a rare example of an amp that wears its influences clearly on its sleeves while still being totally its own thing – and, no matter if you’re making classic metal, doom, sludge, prog, thrash, death or a mix of all of them, The Kraken is ready to join you on that metal journey.
