Meet the Centaur Overdrive, Behringer new $69 Klon Centaur clone

Is the electric guitar community in need of yet another Klon clone in 2024? Probably not. But is it cool to get one anyway, especially one that costs just $69? Well, hell yeah.
Introducing the Behringer Centaur Overdrive, a new contender in the realm of overdrive pedals that aims to capture the essence of the legendary Klon Centaur at a fraction of the price.

The Centaur Overdrive promises to deliver the same “legendary transparent boost overdrive with huge dynamic range” that has made the Klon Centaur a holy grail for many guitarists.
The pedal features a dual potentiometer gain control that is said to be “an improved version of the original concentric gain control”.
“Simply put, you get to easily dial in your tone to get a completely clean signal or have more overdrive mixed in as you turn the knob all the way up,” says Behringer.
The Centaur Overdrive’s “high headroom and high-quality Germanium diodes”, meanwhile, allows it to respond well to your picking dynamics: “With Centaur Overdrive in the chain, you can dance lightly on the strings for a cleaner tone or really dig in to make your guitar, and amp, roar.”
Despite its highly accessible price tag, the pedal sports a vintage-style all-metal housing – a notable departure from Behringer’s usual plastic enclosures – and features a striking gold finish reminiscent of the original Klon. It is, however, much smaller than the original, which is good news if you have an already crowded pedalboard.
