“There were tears, I was crying”: Art Garfunkel reveals he recently reunited with Paul Simon for the first time in years

Art Garfunkel has spoken about a tearful reunion he recently had with former bandmate Paul Simon.
Simon and Garfunkel emerged from the folk rock scene in the 1960s, quickly becoming one of the most successful musical acts of their time. Equally iconic, however, is the pair’s tumultuous relationship, which has seen its fair share of ups and downs since their split in 1970.

The two last performed together in 2010, and in the years that followed, their famously volatile relationship deteriorated to the point where they no longer exchanged words. But Garfunkel’s new interview with The Sun reveals that all that is about to change.
The singer reportedly met with Simon recently “for the first time in years.”
“We had lunch,” Garfunkel recalls. “It was very, very warm and wonderful. There were tears. I was crying at a certain point because I felt I had hurt him.”
“But there were hugs,” he adds. “I’m cherishing this two-week-old memory.”
Asked if he and his old friend had reminisced about their 60s heyday during the meetup, Garfunkel replies: “No, we didn’t. That speaks for itself.”
The 82-year-old also suggests that he and Simon have buried the hatchet, saying “I like to think I’m a man who has a lot of love. There are no relationships of mine that don’t have love at the bottom. I love everyone.”
“ I can’t imagine holding a position of dislike and clinging to it. It’s all meant to be resolved so we can die easy.”

Last year, Paul Simon revealed that he’s been coping with a sudden loss of hearing in his left ear — a condition that left him questioning if he’d ever tour again.
“I haven’t accepted it entirely, but I’m beginning to,” he said. “I play the guitar every day. It’s the instrument that allows me to express myself creatively. But it’s also where I go for solace. If I’m feeling … ‘whatever.’”
