Busking with an edge: Positive Grid unveils AI-loaded Spark EDGE – a portable smart amp and PA for buskers
Positive Grid has launched a brand new portable smart amp and PA, ideal for buskers and other modern players on the move.
The Spark EDGE offers 65 watts of “studio-quality” sound, built-in effects, and a looper in a lightweight, compact design. Capable of serving as an amp, PA, or personal monitor, Spark EDGE offers connectivity for electric and acoustic guitars, bass, vocals, keyboards, and more. With optional battery power (which is sold separately), Spark EDGE lets players “perform anytime, anywhere”.

According to a press release, the EDGE is powered by Sonic IQ Computational Audio. Its tech-driven system features a dedicated computational audio chip that refines dynamic range, boosts vocal clarity, and deepens bass. Its speaker design features a woofer, tweeter, and reflex ports, and it offers four channels. These are:
Channel 1: Equipped with 36 amp models and 50 effects for electric guitars, acoustic guitars, bass, and vocals.
Channel 2: Tailored with dedicated amp models and effects for vocals, bass, and acoustic guitars.
Channels 3/4: Stereo input channels designed for keyboards, drum machines, and other instruments.
Eight customisable presets are available for each of the first two channels, and in true Positive Grid style, users can access even more features for control and customisation via The Spark App. Through this, you can further experiment with amps, effects, a Creative Groove Looper, Spark AI (which lets you automatically generate “the ideal tone” with AI-powered suggestions), Smart Jam for creating backing tracks, Auto Chords for real-time chord display, and 100,000+ Tones.
Spark EDGE can be placed upright or tilted, and an optional rechargeable battery offers up to 10 hours of playing time per charge. Included is also a Bluetooth Streaming capability to stream music directly through the amp and blend with live performances, and WiFi connectivity for firmware updates. The EDGE is also compatible with Spark accessories including Spark Control X, Spark CAB, Spark LINK and more.
Interestingly, news of the launch arrives hot on the heels of the new Sheeran Busker – a PA system launched as part of Ed Sheeran’s Loopers brand for on-the-go performers. Sheeran’s rendition offers 20 hours of battery life, or 24 in an Eco Mode, and 200 watts of power for £299.
Pricing is not yet available for the Spark EDGE, though there will be an exclusive early bird price during the pre-order period. Sign up for pre-order alerts or find out more via Positive Grid.
