Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction is seeking medical treatment after an on-stage “physical outburst” directed at bandmate Dave Navarro earlier this month, the singer’s wife has revealed.

Etty Lau Farrell shared in an Instagram post over the weekend that she and her husband are “taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal” after the band’s tour was cut short following Farrell’s attempt to punch guitarist Navarro during their recent Boston show.
“As you know, Perry is the gentlest of souls,” she wrote. “We are equally astonished at Perry’s physical outburst as you are – but you must know that Perry had been pushed to his absolute limit. To that end we apologise.”
“Perry already has appointments with [an] otolaryngologist and a neurologist,” Etty added. She also dismissed the “false narratives” surrounding Perry’s recent actions — the singer’s alleged drunkenness was said to be a factor in his altercation with Navarro.
“With all of your love, kindness, compassion and support, you know, Perry will persevere. He will recover. He will be happy again. He will once again be able to share his music, vision and artistry — unbridled.”

Last week, Jane’s Addiction announced that they’re taking a temporary hiatus “due to a continuing pattern of behaviour and the mental health difficulties of our singer”. Farrell has also issued an apology taking “full accountability” for his actions.
“After having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologise to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show,” he wrote in an Instagram story. “Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behaviour, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”
Amidst the band drama, Navarro has released a new wah pedal in collaboration with Dunlop and streetwear brand Supreme. A variant on the Cry Baby Wah GCB95, the pedal is said to feature a Fasel inductor for a “focused wah sound”.
