“We have no choice – we hope Perry finds the help he needs”: Dave Navarro makes statement as Jane’s Addiction cancel rest of tour – putting future of band in doubt
Following Perry Farrell’s onstage meltdown and attack on Dave Navarro during a show in Boston on Friday night, Jane’s Addiction have called off the rest of their current tour, with Navarro making a statement on social media apologising to fans.
After making a somewhat cryptic post yesterday (Sunday 17 September), with a photo Navarro holding a guitar which says: “Jane’s Addiction”, and a caption which says, “Goodbye…” the guitarist has now confirmed the tour is off.

“Due to a continuing pattern of behaviour and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour,” he writes.
“Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs.
“We deeply regret that we are not able to come through for all our fans who have already bought tickets. We can see no solution that would either ensure a safe environment on stage or reliably allow us to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis. Our hearts are broken.”

The incident on Friday took place at the Leader Bank Pavilion on Friday 13 September during the set’s 11th song Ocean Size. While the band were set to play three more tracks afterwards, they subsequently cut their set short.
In fan-filmed footage shared to YouTube, Farrell is seen shoving into Navarro during his solo. He can be seen saying “fuck you” to Navarro before attempting to punch him, which is intercepted by guitar tech Dan Cleary before more of their team swarm on stage to restrain Farrell and remove him as boos from the crowd ensue.
In a post shared to the band’s Instagram page, a statement reads, “To all the fans. The band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group. As such, they will be cancelling the remainder of the tour.
“Refunds for the cancelled dates will be issued at your point of purchase – or if you purchased from a third-party resale site like StubHub, SeatGeek etc, please reach out to them direct.
