Noel Gallagher’s Epiphone Les Paul smashed its estimated price at auction, selling for a mighty six-figure sum
The Epiphone Les Paul used by Noel Gallagher for Oasis’ Definitely Maybe sessions soared past its estimated sale price at auction, selling for a whopping £132,000.
The guitar was originally predicted to sell for £60,000-80,000. Gallagher used the axe during sessions prior to the final recording of their iconic debut record at Sawmills Studio in Cornwall, UK.

Other Gallagher-owned guitars also sold above their estimates at the auction, which was hosted by Sotheby’s, with his Epiphone EA-250 selling for nearly £48,000 and a Flying V previously owned by Johnny Marr and used to record Cigarettes & Alcohol going for £36,000.
Due to Epiphone’s “budget” connotations, many were critical of the Les Paul’s estimated price to begin with. Katherine Schofield of Sotheby’s told The Times prior to the auction that “it is the history and the provenance of the piece that counts, and this one has a wood grain that you can match like a fingerprint”. She added, “There has been a lot of Oasis guitars on the market but not as significant as this one. It is the Britpop guitar.”
Not only that, but the price may also have surged due to the 2025 Oasis reunion, for which the famously feuding Gallagher brothers are due to set aside their differences for a tour across the UK and Ireland.
Incredibly high demand for tickets led to dynamic pricing hiking up costs. Tickets were listed above £300, causing mass frustration among hopeful fans. Oasis later announced two additional London dates at Wembley Stadium, with tickets being sold via a private ballot to avoid long online queues and to prevent fans from being priced out. According to Liam Gallagher, there is also a new Oasis album “in the bag”, though no further details on this have yet been revealed.
