“Literally the worst promotional film I’ve ever watched”: Internet fumes at 24-minute Neural DSP teaser video

Neural DSP has released a new promotional video teasing the launch of a new Quad Cortex, but it’s 24 minutes long and doesn’t say all that much about it.
The new video, which has been uploaded to the company’s official YouTube channel, is simply titled “SOON”, and has left fans feeling rather irritated.

The video follows George Lever, a producer who has endorsed Neural in the past and features on its website. In the story explored during the video, George calls with Dan Davies (Chief Marketing Officer at Neural) who tells him he has a product launch video releasing in just a few days, and he needs music.
George is then delivered a briefcase which hosts a Quad Cortex, as he is tasked with making some music for the mysterious promotional video alongside guitarist Rabea Massaad. However, he later discovers that he has the wrong unit, as the Quad Cortex that was meant to be used on the track has a much smaller size and new colour. Its official name is purposefully censored out.
Due to the excessive length of the video and the minimal details shared within, fans aren’t exactly happy. The video is said to be ‘Episode 1’, though it’s not shared how many more (if any) episodes are to come.
In the comments under the video, one user says it’s the “worst promotional film” they’ve ever watched, with another writing, “You guys are the MASTERS of tone. Your amp sims and digital modellers? Absolutely dialled in. But… your comedy bits? Well, they’re kind of like cranking the treble on a cheap EQ. Raw, harsh, and definitely not the vibe we’re going for.”
They later add, “Stick to what you’re amazing at, Neural DSP; producing those top-tier and jaw-droppingly products! Respectfully, all of us.”
Another writes: “Fire your marketing department and whomever approved this.”
If you’d like to watch the whopping 24-minute long video, you can do so below:

The video premiered on Sunday 14 September, meaning that the ‘promotional video’ for the new product talked about within the film could be landing this week. And who knows? Maybe this film did exactly what the makers had hoped – got us all talking about it.
