Women-only rock camp to feature Nancy Wilson, Nita Strauss and Lita Ford
A rock camp for women is set to take place this December, with a little help from Heart’s Nancy Wilson, Nita Strauss, Lita Ford of The Runaways, and more industry greats.
This is the third year of the annual Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp for women, where 80 campers will form up to 14 bands, with each participant matched with others at the same experience level.

Each band is assigned a counsellor who will mentor them throughout the four day event, and help them prepare for a closing concert at the Viper Room on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood.
Among practice for the big closing event, campers will also attend masterclasses, Q&As, jam sessions, and live shows. This year’s event will also include a panel of top women music executives presented by Billboard, the Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp’s media sponsor.
Rockstars in attendance also include Rhonda Smith (Jeff Beck) and Sheila E. (Prince), plus a range of successful counsellors like Roxy Petrucci (Vixen), Eva Gardner (P!nk), Jennie Vee (Eagles of Death Metal), Julia Lage (Vixen), Jennifer Oberle (Sarah McLachlan), and Britt Lightning (Vixen).
Attendees will get to play through hits such as The Runaways’ Cherry Bomb, Hearts’ Barracuda, and Alice Cooper classics such as School’s Out and I’m 18, just to name a few.

“Rock Fantasy Camp for women is a meaningful gathering of women together. As a military brat I never felt constrained by my gender,” says Wilson (via Billboard). “Encouraging women to wield their power outside confining gender expectations is always a happy task for me.”
Producer David Fishof, who has been running Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camps for more than 28 years, says that the Women’s Rock Camps have been “some of the most supportive and uplifting camps” of all.
“The way these women are able to bond and be completely open about topics without judgement allows everyone to leave with so much joy and increased confidence,” he says. “After observing it, I realised it would be a disservice to not continue producing annual Women’s Rock Camps.”
Camp runs from 5-8 December this year. A range of packages are on sale, including options for junior rockers, those who’d like to come along as crew, or for loved ones wanting to accompany and support participants.
