Windows 10, TonePrint Editor & HOF Mini Reverb

I may have solved a problem & thought my results might be useful to others.

The problem was that the TonePrint editor was unable to connect to my Hall of Fame Mini Reverb and, more specifically, Windows 10 couldn’t get past some problem with the USB driver. I’ll provide all the techie details, below but this is what worked:

I had initially connected my reverb pedal through an old Belkin USB hub.  I’d never had problems with it before, but Windows reported this error:

———————————————-

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

A request for the USB device descriptor failed.

After trying many things, even pestering TC support, I ran across a post by somebody else that suggested that the TC driver might be sensitive to the USB version — or some such.

So, instead of trying to connect via the hub, I connected to one of the USB 3 ports directly on my CPU. Because of its location, those ports happen to be pretty inconvenient, which is why I’d used the hub in the first place.

Like magic, Windows was suddenly happy to recognize the driver and, thus, the TonePrint editor worked without further problems.

Tech stuff about my system:

Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit
Windows version 10.0.15603, build 15603
Processor: AMD A10 7880K – 4 Ghz
RAM: 8G

So, if you’re having trouble with TonePrint editor on Windows 10, try different USB connections. I’ve no idea why, but it’s worked for me & this system.
