According to Charvel, the axe has been designed with maximum “playability and power” in mind, ensuring it can be played by any player regardless of genre. This is reflected by Aswani’s own career, which saw him span across multiple genres and styles.
The strat style guitar has been built with a lightweight alder body with scalloped lower back bout and shredder’s cut heel offering access to the higher frets.
The guitar also dons a bolt-on maple neck with graphite reinforcement and hand-rubbed satin urethane back finish. This supports the 12-inch rosewood fret board with rolled edges, 22 jumbo frets and cream dot inlays.
“Guitar is a tool for me to express the music I have inside of me. Once you plug it in, the tone of my signature model will take people on a journey of their own,” said Prashant Aswani.
“All the specs on the PA28 were meticulously implemented because I felt the guitar had to be expressive and easy to play. From the neck profile to the vintage inspired modern pickup set, Charvel nailed the specs and tone I was after. This might be my signature model, but it has the ability to be the signature instrument for whoever creates music with it.”
Regarding the electrics, the guitar features a Charvel PA28 humbucking pickups with a white cover and a Wilkingson WVS 130 CR 2-point locking tremolo bridge with pop-in arm. This is controlled by a five-way black pickup switch and skirted strat-style volume and tone controls.
The Prashant Aswani Signature Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 PA28 is retailing for $1,399.99 USD/ £1,399.00 GBP/ €1,599.00 EUR/ $2,399.00 AUD/ ¥206,800 JPY.
