Slipknot members black out social media in tribute to Joey Jordison

Joey Jordison’s former Slipknot bandmates have paid tribute to the late musician, after it was revealed he had died on Monday 26 July.
A statement from Jordison’s family revealed he had died “peacefully in his sleep” on Monday (26 July) from an undisclosed illness.
“Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow,” the statement read. “To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart and his love for all things family and music.”
The statement concluded: “The family will hold a private funeral service and asks the media and public to respect their wishes.”
Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, Jim Root and Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan commemorated the loss, posting a single black square on their social media pages.

Jordison was the founding drummer of Slipknot, playing in their previous incarnations The Pale Ones and Meld. He departed Slipknot in 2013, with his last studio contribution being towards their record All Hope Is Gone. He revealed in 2016 that he had suffered from transverse myelitis, which had cost him the ability to drum towards the end of his time in Slipknot. “I lost my legs,” he said at the time. “I couldn’t play anymore. It was a form of multiple sclerosis, which I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I got myself back up, and I got myself in the gym and I got myself back in fucking therapy, to fucking beat this shit.”
Alongside his role in Slipknot, Jordison was also the guitarist in the horrorpunk band Murderdolls. He formed a handful of other projects following his departure from Slipknot, continuing his drumming with Sinsaenum, a blackened death metal supergroup featuring vocalists Attila Csihar (Mayhem) and Sean Zatorsky (Dååth), guitarists Frédéric Leclercq (ex-DragonForce) and Stéphane Buriez, and bassist Heimoth (Seth). The band released two albums and three EPs between 2016 and 2018.
