Gretsch unleashes Players Edition hollowbody electrics, Richard Fortus Signature Falcon
Gretsch has a wealth of electric guitars planned for 2021, including a spread of hollowbody models for the Players Edition series and a Signature Falcon for Richard Fortus. All these are slated for a November 2021 release.
Players Edition Hollow Body Electrics
The Players Edition instrument range has expanded to include six new hollowbody models, some equipped with a set of brand-new pickups: the FT-67 Filter’Tron humbuckers. The new pickup is said to be designed to offer “authentic vintage” Gretsch tones but also an overall more “well-rounded” sound to accommodate more playing styles.

“This powerful pair of pickups provide open and pristine top-end chime, glassy midrange, robust low end and balanced harmonics for tone that blends seamlessly with other instruments,” wrote Gretsch in a press release.
Gretsch G6136TG Players Edition Falcon Hollow Body
Dripping with class and heavy on player features, this hollowbody model comes in an elegant White Gloss finish paired with all-gold hardware. The Gretsch G6136TG-LH Players Edition features an all-maple build from body to neck, Grover Imperial locking tuners and the aforementioned FT-67 Filter’Tron humbuckers. It also comes in a left-handed edition.
Priced at £3,630 / $3,900 / €4,030.
Gretsch G6122TG Players Edition Country Gentleman Hollow Body
Revisiting the Electrotone body design of the 60s, the Gretsch “Country Gent” is a sophisticated electric that comes in a Walnut Stain gloss urethane finish and attractive gold hardware. Its build involves a 2”-deep maple body with parallel bracing that promises a “resonant” sound. Meanwhile, its simulated f-holes and sealed top are said to better control feedback and cut unwanted low-end.

Gretsch G6120TG Players Edition Nashville Hollow Body
This striking electric pays homage to Music City and comes in an Azure Metallic or Orange Stain finish. It features the brand’s new Filter’Tron pickups and comes equipped with a String-Thru Bigsby, Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays and a gold plexi pickguard. It features an all-maple build from its body to its U-shaped neck. Great news for lefties: it comes in a left-handed edition as well.
Priced at £2,750 / $2,600 / €3,050.
Gretsch G6120TG-DS Players Edition Nashville Hollow Body DS
This variant of the Players Edition Nashville from above instead features a pair of DynaSonic pickups which are said to offer “bright, shimmering highs and a defined, rich bass for distinct tone that cuts through the mix.” It comes in a Roundup Orange finish.
Priced at £2,840 / $2,700 / €3,150.
Gretsch G6119T-ET Players Edition Tennessee Rose Electrotone Hollow Body
The second new instrument to revisit the brand’s Electrotone body of the 60s, the Tennessee Rose drips with Gretsch style and features a Deep Cherry Stain urethane finish paired with some nickel hardware. It comes loaded with Gotoh locking tuning machines, G-arrow knobs and a white-bound neck. Meanwhile its build is completely maple from body to neck.

Gretsch G6118T Players Edition Anniversary Hollow Body
Arriving in a choice of either a Copper Metallic or Sahara Metallic finish – paired with either a silver or vintage white or tortoiseshell pickguard – this maple-bodied electric matches classic Gretsch style with modern appointments. Hardware includes a String-Thru Bigsby system, Gotoh locking tuners, G-arrow control knobs and Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays.
Priced at £2,380/$2,300/€2,640.
Gretsch G6636 Richard Fortus Signature Falcon with Bigsby or Stoptail bridge
Developed to the specifications of ex-Guns N’ Roses guitarist Richard Fortus, this double-cutaway model features a maple body and neck, as well as a light chambered spruce center block. Its electronics include a pair of Custom Wound Filter’Tron pickups in the bridge and neck positions for versatile output.
The Bigsby-equipped model is offered in a vintage white finish, while the one with the V-Stoptail edition comes in black. Both feature TonePros Tune-O-Matic bridges, the Bigsby-equipped model comes with roller saddles and pinned ebony base for greater playing stability.

The Bigsby edition of the G6636-RF is offered at £3,200 / $3,600 / €3,550, while the stoptail edition comes priced at £3,050 / $3,400 / €3,390.
