G&L launches the 40th anniversary SB-1 and S-500
In addition to unveiling a long-lost Leo Fender design at NAMM 2020, and launching a limited run of the L-2000 bass, G&L is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the launch of two special edition instruments: The S-500 guitar and the SB-1 bass.
Both guitars will be made at the historic factory on Fender Avenue in Fullerton, California, and feature Leo’s famous MFD pickups, okoume bodies showcased by a Clear Ruby Red finish, white pearloid pickguards. There’s a choice between either maple or Caribbean rosewood fingerboards.
The release is part of an ongoing celebration of the brand’s 40th anniversary. It was founded in 1979 by George Fullerton and Leo Fender. Fullerton and Fender were both instrumental in designs that introduced the world to mass-produced solid-body guitars. Their innovations with G&L include the aforementioned MFD pickups, which allow for individual output levels per string, as well as a dual-fulcrum vibrator and other construction innovations.
