Watch Bruce Springsteen’s full interview with Jimmy Kimmel
Bruce Springsteen recently sat down with talk show host Jimmy Kimmel for an interview about his upcoming concert film, Western Stars.
Springsteen chatted about the currently ongoing exhibition about him, taking place in New Jersey. After Kimmel jokingly asked if the exhibition taught him anything about himself, he revealed that the exhibition had traced his lineage all the way back to the time of the American Revolutionary War – and had on display a “small parlour guitar” owned by a Springsteen ancestor from the time of the American Civil War.
The interview also touched on how he and co-director Thom Zimny conceptualised his latest film release, Western Stars, which follows on from the recent album of the same name. Springsteen says his co-director credit was given in generosity – but the humble Boss did shoot a portion of the footage, namely some home movies of Springsteen and his family. This led him to talk about his kid’s attitude to his music – Bruce saying “kids are into you watching them – kids don’t want to go anywhere and see fifty-thousand people cheering for their parents”. He went on to joke that they “might like to see fifty thousand people boo their parents.”
The film will be released on Friday 25 October, after which Springsteen is planning on reuniting with The E Street Band to record a new studio album.
