3D printed violin to debut at Musikmesse 2017
3DVarius, the revolutionary 3D printed electric concert violin, is set to make an appearance at the forthcoming Musikmesse, Frankfurt (5 to 8 April).
The creator of the 3Dvarius is Laurent Bernadac, a violinist and mechanical engineer. He wanted to create an electric violin which could fulfill all the needs of a classical musician. ‘The 3Dvarius was designed to facilitate the transition for all violinists from a classical violin to the 3Dvarius. Its dimensions can be personalised and adapted to any morphology,’ the company says.
Originally based on a genuine Stradivarius, the 3DVarius is created as a single piece and is claimed to produce a particularly accurate sound suitable for use in any musical genre. The instruments are manufactured by hand in Toulouse, France, and are customisable to an individual player’s requirements.
