NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Days! NYNGD #2018-1
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year, everyone! Welcome to Day 1 of my annual New Year’s New Guitar Days (NYNGD)!
OK, off we go on what has become an annual tradition! Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date… So, as a fun holiday thing, let’s launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day as we ring in 2019! Sorry I was delayed getting this started — really hectic time of year for me work-wise and I fell behind! I usually run this so the Grand Finale falls on New Years Eve, but that’s pretty much impossible as we have 23 guitars to share (not 19 as previously hinted — there are some late arrivals on UPS trucks)!
Before we begin: In the past I’ve received PM’s about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. 🙂 The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!
Even though I set out to roll easy this year, GAS took hold as always and I again bought too many guitars. Some new, some used, all EBMM!
The first one is a fun guitar that I picked up CHEEP from a Reverb seller who won it in a contest… This is a Stealth Black Axis with a very cool red binding, red dot inlays, red headstock silkscreen, and black/red DiMarzios. And it’s got two decals under the “clear” (not sure what you call it on a matte finish) from the 2004 Warped tour. This guy is a super new arrival so I have not yet determined its birthday nor its backstory — it is a one-of-one or were there many made? No idea. I need to post on the serial number thread and get the deets.
This guitar has been played live and has some scratches and rash, but all in all is in pretty good shape. It sounds great and is what I would consider a “normal-sounding” Axis. The red binding and dots are a cool touch. I am a little bummed that the switch was replaced with a non-stock switch that looks to be a bigger diameter, which means if this is rare I can’t return it to stock since a bigger hole was drilled. Bummer.
Getting off to a chill start. Another guitar coming tomorrow!
I’ll be back tomorrow with another NYNGD: New Year’s New Guitar Day!
Thanks for looking everyone!

(The back story in case you’re new to my NYNGD: For the past couple of years I’ve done a fun thing that most of you I think enjoyed, and I thought I would do it again this year. Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date… So, as a fun holiday thing, let’s launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day leading up to New Years Eve! In the past I’ve received PM’s about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. 🙂 The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!)
(Also, in case anybody gets any funny ideas — these guitars are not at my house. They are all in my very secure and alarmed studio facility. I usually only have two guitars floating around the house…)
