Gibson unveils the BB King Lucille 2019
Gibson has reintroduced a legendary six-string that will send blues fans reeling: the BB King Lucille 2019. Returning to the ES line-up, the immaculately finished model is decked out in premium appointments – and, significantly, has a gleaming white finish.
Diving right into the BB King-themed highlights, the guitar features an engraved bridge pickup cover that bears the legendary bluesman’s signature. Further up, on the headstock, you’ll find “Lucille” engraved on the truss rod cover, below a mother-of-pearl crown inlay.
Moving on to the rest of the specs, the Lucille 2019 has a three-ply maple/poplar/maple semi-hollow body, a maple neck with a rounded C profile, and a Richlite fingerboard.
The guitar is fitted with a 490R humbucker in the neck position and a 490T humbucker in the bridge position. In addition to the usual quartet of dials (two volume and two tone), the electronics include a six-position Varitone switch that changes notch filters and acts as an “EQ map”, according to Gibson.
You’ll also notice a pair of output jacks, which are hand-wired with ceramic capacitors. This allows for a stereo output – you can route each pickup’s signal to separate amps.
In terms of hardware, the Lucille 2019 features a gold-finished Tune-o-Matic bridge, a TP-6 tailpiece and Grover Rotomatic tuners.
Available in Alpine White. Lists for $5,499. More information at gibson.com.
