Women’s Audio Mission announces new speakers to join first ever WAMCon in New York
The speaker additions include music producers Linda Perry (Christina Aguilera, P!nk) and Leslie Ann Jones (Dianne Reeves, Herbie Hancock).
Women’s Audio Mission (WAM) has revealed new speakers will join the first ever recording arts conference for women in New York, entitled WAMCon New York, at YouTube Space NY and the legendary Jungle City Studios, on October 19-20 for the first time ever.
The speaker additions include music producers Linda Perry (Christina Aguilera, P!nk) and Leslie Ann Jones (Dianne Reeves, Herbie Hancock).
WAMCon New York will see a number of top music industry professionals lead workshops on the subjects of women in recording arts on October 19, and a full day of interactive workshops covering topics from studio recording techniques to deconstructing mixes to beat-making and songwriting at Jungle City Studios and Centre for Social Innovation taking place on October 20.
WAM executive director Terri Winston said: “For years, women on the East Coast have asked WAM when we would bring our programs to New York. This is the year! WAM is thrilled to bring WAMCon to New York this year with a line-up of heavy-hitting women audio professionals, after two successful conferences in Boston and Los Angeles.”
Musician Myracle McCoy, who attended WAM’s last conference in Los Angeles at Capitol Studios said: “I had the best experience today at the WAM at Capitol event learning from a panel of inspiring and talented female musicians. I feel so ready to go take over the world with my sisters right now!”
WAM trains more than 1,500 women annually in the recording arts to discuss the lack of women in the audio industry, which currently stands at less than 5%.
