Martin Audio delivers sound at record breaking Sziget festival
The company’s MLA system was deployed at the week-long Budapest festival that took place on Hajógyári Island.
With an audience of 565,000, Martin Audio MLA was chosen to reinforce sound on the main and second stages at the Sziget Festival in Budapest.
Now in it’s 26th year of running, the festival made history by breaking all previous attendance records. Top acts such as Dua Lipa, Stormzy, Kendrick Lamar and many more performed at the event. Supplying the system was Capital Sound, with account manager Paul Timmins stating: “All the top acts bring experienced sound engineers who know they will be able to get the levels they are seeking — whether it be 96dB(A) or 106dB(A) — and it’s just not a subject that is spoken about anymore.”
Hungarian company BG Event also supported Capital Sound with MLA / MLX components, as well as providing Martin Audio PA for two further stages. The Europe stage was kitted with 12 W8L Longbow and 12 W8LS subwoofers, with four XD12 for infill. The stage was given 10 LE2100 wedge monitors, and a set of WS218X and LE1500 drum monitors. And the Colosseum venue had 24 MLA Compact cabinets and 12 SX218 subwoofers, with Martin MLA Mini infill and Merlin processing.
There was a wider stage this year and this called for two MLA Compact enclosures with the latest Martin Audio SX218 subs replacing the older models on the delay towers. “We are geared up to respond to any changes, no matter how small,” concluded Timmins.
