Three new guitar ranges from Godin

Canada’s Godin has announced three new series in addition to its recently relaunched Art & Lutherie brand, covered in MIN previously.

The newcomers feature in Godin’s own brand as well as its Seagull and La Patrie sub-brands and include solid electric and electro-acoustics.

The Godin model is the all new Summit Classic Ltd Desert Blue. ‘With a “heaping helping” of vintage vibe and the playability of a premium modern guitar, this limited-run guitar raises the bar for classic single-cutaways,’ Godin says. the Summit Classics come with hand-wound Mule pickups and carry a High Gloss Desert Blue finish, which contains ‘…a hint of sparkle.

Beneath a carved maple top is a mahogany body with five hollow chambers strategically placed throughout the guitar’s body. Godin says. Each is tap-tuned to a different note ‘…ensuring rich, musical tones and extremely consistent note-to-note balance’.

The latest addition to the Seagull range is the Coastline Momentum, a handmade guitar with an exceptionally thin High Gloss Custom Polished finish that accentuates the looks of the wild cherry back and sides, while ‘allowing the solid cedar top to vibrate freely’. The Coastline Momentum features a smooth satin hand-finished silver leaf maple neck, Adirondack spruce bracing, Seagull’s new High Ratio tuners, Fishman Sonitone electronics, Tusq nut and saddle and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge.

Finally, also new for 2017, La Patrie releases the handcrafted Arena thinline series. Godin says they: ‘…boast features and playablity that up until now have been unheard of in a nylon string guitar’.

The four Arena models come with a double-function truss rod system (unusual in classical ) and are offered in a choice of three tonewoods: mahogany, wild cherry, or flame maple. All benefit from select pressure tested spruce tops and are offered with either Godin’s Q1T electronics or L.R. Baggs Crescent II pre-amp.
