Less that three weeks till Learn To Play Day
Learn to Play Day 2018 returns on the 17th and 18th March 2018, with music shops, venues, schools and teachers welcoming visitors to this now well established annual event.
As well as, of course, promoting the idea that playing a musical instrument is fun as well as educational, the event has benefits for businesses, too. For example, in 2017 Spider Music in Swansea reportedly saw over two hundred people visit the shop each day – ‘…every room in the music school was full, the shop itself was full, their outside area was full, so they gave lessons in the car park!’
The organisers says holding a Learn to Play Day event is a great way to encourage new and old customers to visit a music business and that it does not have to cost the world. ‘Low cost ideas to get the party going can include posters in the windows, a selection of free refreshments on the day, collaboration with local music teachers, staff forming a band to provide live music or inviting local dignitaries, celebrities, radio stations and newspapers. ‘Music students and music lessons are the core of many businesses, so getting people involved in finding out about the benefits of learning to play a musical instrument is a key part of continuing success’.
